               310th WE Heraeus Seminar
        Oberwoelz, Austria,September 15-20, 2003

we want to provide you with a few hints regarding travel, accommodation, format, and program of the meeting.

Program
=======
The preliminary program is available on the Symposium server under the URL given above. Please note that the official opening of the Symposium will be held on Monday, September 15th, at 18:00 h, followed by a reception by the mayor of the town of Oberwoelz at 19:30 h.
The scientific program of the Symposium will end on Saturday, September 20th, in the afternoon. The meeting will close with a farewell dinner on Saturday evening. The dinner is sponsored by the Brewery of Murau (regional capital) and will be given in a top four-star restaurant up in the mountains on the Turracher Hoehe.

Arrival by Air
==============
Some participants will fly to Vienna, Graz or Klagenfurt and then continue by train. From the airport Vienna Schwechat (http://www.viennaairport.com/) you may reach the railway station Wien Suedbahnhof, where the trains to Unzmarkt leave from, in the easiest and cheapest way by taking the shuttle bus. Busses leave hourly at xx:25 in front of the arrival hall. For the appropriate travel times you may also consult the Austrian railways

Arrival by Train
================
So far we have foreseen the following shuttles to Oberwoelz for participants arriving by train:

    1. Unzmarkt-Oberwoelz on Monday, Sept. 15th, at 14:10 h.
    2. Unzmarkt-Oberwoelz on Monday, Sept. 15th, at 16:10 h.
    3. Unzmarkt-Oberwoelz on Monday, Sept. 15th, at 18:10 h.
    4. Bischofshofen-Oberwoelz on Monday, Sept. 15th, at 14:00 h.

It is essential to register for these shuttles before Thursday, Sep. 11th! If you have not yet done so, please send us your request immediately. We have to know the size of the bus in either case. If you need a shuttle at a different time or place, let us know immediately. Maybe we can still arrange for that. The train schedule of the Austrian railways (with international train connections) is available on the internet under http://www.oebb.at/.

Arrival by Car
==============
Some useful hints were already given in the 2nd Circular (available on the server).

Registration
============
The registration will start on Monday, September 15th, at 13:00 h at Schloss Rothenfels (10-15 minutes walk from the centre of the town of Oberwoelz). Supported participants will get their funds upon registration.

Fee
===
We shall ask for a fee for the catered lunches (three-course meal plus drink) and for coffee/tea provided at Schloss Rothenfels (Euro 12 per day) and for the social events, concert, excursion etc. (Euro 30 in total). Thus, participants opting for all will pay a sum of Euro 90 upon registration. However, one may also take only parts (or nothing) of this offer.

Weather
========
It is still hard to predict how the weather will turn out next week. Be prepared for chilly mornings and evenings. However, bring also a T-shirt for sun-bathing on one or the other pleasant indian-summer day. Mountains around Oberwoelz raise up to about 2500 metres above sea level. Appropriate hiking equipment is advised. For our excursion on Thursday we plan a trip by bus to a hut in a near-by valley. From there easy hikes in an enchanting environment are possible. The evening will close with a rustic dinner in the hut.
