Solid-State Theory

The solid-state theory group of the Department of Physics at the University of Graz, Austria, concerns itself with the theoretical analysis of fundamental physical properties of and dynamic phenomena in solids, with emphasis on electronic and optical properties, quantum transport and tunneling, as well as coherent and optimal control in nanostructures.

Selected Research Topics:
  • Quantum coherent and optical phenomena in nanostructures
  • Semiconductor hetero- and quantum-dot structures
  • Metallic nano-particles
  • Solid state implementations of qubits
  • Ion transport in solids
  • Open quantum systems and optimal control
  • Ab-initio electronic structure methods
  • Electronic and optical properties of organic / inorganic interfaces

Group Members:
