Research
The solar and astrophysics research at the University of Graz is focused on three main areas:
- observational astrophysics,
- solar and heliospheric physics,
- dynamics of the lower solar atmosphere.
The group also runs the Kanzelhöhe Observatory for Solar and Environmental Research. Kanzelhöhe Observatory performs high cadence imaging of the Sun in the Hα-spectral line, the Ca II K spectral line and in the visual continuum. Real-time detection of solar flares and filament eruptions are provided in the frame of ESA's Space Saftey Programme (SSP). At Lustbühel Observatory night-time observations for teaching purposes and selected research projects are performed.
