Absorptionen und optische Feldverstärkung von Metall-Isolator-Metall Nanopartikeln

Eine kürzlich publizierte Arbeit der Nano-Optik Gruppe untersucht und erklärt die optischen Moden in Metall-Isolator-Metall Nanopartikeln und deren optische Nahfeldverstärkung.

Werden metallische Nanopartikel mit Licht beschienen, kann man starke Streuung und Absorption beobachten, was sich durch die Anregung von sogenannten plasmonischen Resonanzen erklären lässt. In der unmittelbaren Umgebung der Nanopartikel (einige zehtausendstel Millimeter von deren Oberfläche) führt die Anregung dieser Resonanzen zu einer großen Verstärkung der Lichtintensität, was wiederum die Licht-Materie-Wechselwirkung in diesem Bereich erhöht. In der Publikation wird gezeigt, dass Metall-Isolator-Metall Nanopartikel eine außerordentlich hohe Lichtverstärkung im Nahbereich erzeugen. Darüberhinaus konnte die komplexe Modenstruktur aufgeklärt werden.
