Forschungsschwerpunkt 'Modelle und Simulation' im Web Radio

Landesrätin Kristina Edlinger-Ploder überreichte Andreas Trügler (Mitte) im November 2012 den Forschungspreis des Landes Steiermark für seine Dissertation zu metallischen Nanoteilchen. Laudator war Trüglers Betreuer Ulrich Hohenester

Der Frühling beginnt, das Semester ebenso und auch das Webradio der Grazer Universitäten meldet sich zurück aus der Pause. Wir starten mit einer Schwerpunktsendung in den März, die sich grob gesprochen "virtuellen Welten" widmet.  

 

An der Karl-Franzens-Universität widmet sich der Forschungsschwerpunkt "Modelle und Simulation" jenen Problemlösungen, die mit traditionellen Methoden nicht bearbeitet werden können. Dr. Andreas Trügler, Post Doc am Institut für Physik, beschäftigt sich etwa mit Simulationen und Modellierung metallischer Nanopartikel, die er auf unterschiedlichste Gebiete anwenden konnte - zum Beispiel können diese winzigen Teilchen, die 100.000-mal kleiner sind als der Durchmesser eines menschlichen Haares, Licht manipulieren. Welche Möglichkeiten sich dadurch ergeben, von der Sensortechnik bis zur Strahlentherapie, hat er dem uns verraten.
