In the Ö1 live program "Punkt Eins," the astrophysicist Isabell Piantschitsch and the philosopher Philipp Berghofer provided a summary of the DELPHI conference, which focused on interdisciplinary discussions around artificial intelligence. Moderated by Barbara Zeithammer, the discussion highlighted key insights and reflections from the event, showcasing the convergence of scientific and philosophical perspectives on AI.

Between September 16th and 18th, the international AI conference DELPHI took place at the University of Graz. Participants from various nations (USA, Australia, Sweden, Spain, the Netherlands, etc.) and diverse fields (physics, philosophy, mathematics, digitalization law, AI ethics, computer science) came together to discuss the use of AI in science.

The organizing team, consisting of Isabell Piantschitsch, Philipp Berghofer, and Manuela Stadlober-Temmer, were pleasantly surprised by the strong interest shown in each other's disciplines. Talks on topics such as hate speech on the internet, risk control of AI algorithms, the EU's AI Act, applications of AI in quantum physics, and how ChatGPT is being integrated into researchers' work sparked exciting and interdisciplinary discussions.

In the Ö1 program "Punkt Eins" on September 19, 2024, Isabell Piantschitsch and Philipp Berghofer reflected on the conference and discussed with the host the opportunities and risks of using AI in fundamental research.
