The Department of Physics Education is implementig projects such as the Citizen Science initiative WattsAhead and the Youth Participatory Science project Reine Luft?, both of which actively engage young people in the research process.
As part of the Future Education Talk hosted by the university's Future Education research network on 27 May 2026, Angelika Bernsteiner and Lilith G. Rüschenpöhler (Norwegian University of Science and Technology) discussed the potential of participatory research approaches for schools, teaching, and higher education.
The talk focused on questions such as how research can be made relevant to young people, which forms of participatory research are suitable for classroom settings, and how scientific inquiry can be connected to the interests and everyday lives of young people. The event was moderated by Sonja Peitler-Hasewend.
